Consent to Care
By booking a consultation, you consent to receiving lactation support for yourself and your baby, including any agreed follow-up care.
Lactation consultations often involve visual assessment of feeding and may require exposure of the breasts. With your consent, I may ask to observe or gently touch your breasts to assess feeding and positioning. All actions will be clearly explained beforehand, and consent will be requested at every stage. You may withdraw consent at any time.
During in-person consultations, and with your consent, I may also assess your baby’s mouth. This will be explained in advance and carried out following appropriate hygiene and safety procedures.
Scope of Practice
I am not a medical doctor and do not diagnose medical conditions. I provide evidence-based information and support to help you make informed decisions about feeding.
If any concerns arise that fall outside my scope of practice, you will be advised to seek support from your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional. Where relevant, I may suggest further assessment by a qualified practitioner (for example, if an oral restriction such as tongue-tie is suspected).
